I hate that question! It’s a great question but it’s impossible to answer.
Are you asking for a plot summary or a dissertation about the meaning of the book?
If I could answer the question in one sentence or one paragraph, I wouldn‘t need to have spent 15 years writing and rewriting the manuscript of my novel.
It’s an eminently reasonable question, though. I ask it all the time.
I need to be able to talk and write about my novel. There’s call for a one-liner, an elevator speech, a pitch to agents and publishers, a website description, and book jacket copy. All of these versions are different.
I’m still trying to figure out what my novel is about. Considering a variety of images for the cover, though, forced me to get closer to the essence of this book.
Next time, maybe someone will say, “Tell me about your book.” I like that much better than “what’s your book about?”
I recently purchased Eleanor’s Wars when I attended a reading by you at the Andover Book Store in Andover, Ma. Once I started reading it, I found I could not put it down. It was absolutely riveting and I was fully engaged upon reading the first page! I was actually sad when I came to the end. I hope you will write a sequel as the characters lives are so interesting! Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable novel!
Thank you, Lorraine, for your wonderful comments. I’m so glad you enjoyed Eleanor’s Wars. I’d really appreciate it if you’d be willing to post your comments on Amazon — you do not need to have bought the book from them to post a review. I AM working on a sequel but it’ll take awhile to complete and publish.
Thanks, again.
